The Siamese Cook

It has been awhile since I last up dated my blog. Hmmmm....been very busy. Anyway, let's start again with the Siamese cook.

Ah Lai is an excellent chef who can cook lot of yummy dishes. I am not going to comment this time as I am no one to judge.

All I can say is that everyone was very satisfied with the meals and can't wait for his cooking again next time.

Whoever like to get the recipe of the dishes, kindly login to www.UglyPonTip.com. whahahha. ;p ~

The couple cook

Finally, it was the hunk couple turn to cook, Hong & Yit. It has been a long wait, but after tasted it, it worth waiting.

Yit cooked 3 dishes, mix vege, egg roll and fish, while his hubby, Hong cooked 2 dishes, "kim jiam kor" (golden needle mushroom) wrapped with bacon cooked with Teriyaki sauce and sui mai. I am sure both of them really put lot of afford onto it.

Must really give the credit to Hong for his "kim jiam kor" bacon as it tastes just the same as what we ate at a Japanese restaurant the night before. And the Sui Mai, sure a lot of hard work and it tasted yummy. I finished more than 10 pieces, and another 20 over pieces the next morning. whahaha. I really like Sui Mai among all kind of Dim Sim.

Overall, it was good dishes considering they both are not so good in cooking as what they said. (I doubt that now). If really want to critic, I would say that it was too dry as all 5 dishes were "dry" type of dishes.

Oh yeah, not to forget about Thim's Fu Chuk, Yee Mai + Pak Kor. It was his fomous 'dong shui'. He never failed it. Yummy Yummy. It tastes much better than Jelutong famous Leng Lui Dong Shui. :-)

After dinner, we were watching 28days. It was scary at the beginning, but it was boring from the middle until the end. So, not worth mentioning it. If you guys haven't watch the movie, can give it a miss.

Well, a good dinner must always end with a good desert and the hunk couple knew it well. So, they prepared a lovely ice cream served with banana, cornflakes, fan wafer with chocolate syrup topping. It was so good, the combination is perfect. You guys must try it at home if you are an ice cream lover.

紅河村 Red River Valley

Back in early 90's when I first listened to this song, I was in love with it. It was simple, lovely and smooth. However, you will feel it more if you have watched the movie. The story of Ah Mui & Ah Pok, their characters & their love story.

Now, when I listen back to this song, it still feel great as it always is. Only that I have more feeling toward this song now. Very very confused & complicated feeling..its including happy, sad, blue, depressed, loved & etc... It brought back a lot of memories too.

Anyway, hope when you guys listening to this song, you will only feel love... :-)

梅艷芳 Anita Mui

Anita Mui Yim-Fong was born in 1963 and began her show business career early (at the tender age of five), performing opera and pop songs along with her sister. When she was eighteen, Mui won a singing contest and began her recording career. She became known as the "queen of movies and TV" and "the Madonna of Asia," not just because of her acting, but because she sang the theme song for literally dozens of flims and shows. Mui also displayed talent in front of the camera, winning the prestigious Taiwan Golden Horse for her role as a tortured ghost in 1987's Rouge.

Though she is best known for romantic and dramatic roles, she has shown that she can act in action (Heroic Trio) and comedic (Drunken Master 2) roles as well. Like many female HK stars, Mui retreated somewhat from the spotlight, though she still does act occasionally in films. Her CDs continue to be extremely popular in Asia -- one recent series of concerts in Hong Kong sold out 28 consecutive nights -- as well as in other markets, since she often includes the songs she records for films.

In 2003, Mui was diagnosed with cervical cancer, a disease which took the life of her sister. Though she kept a brave face and continued working, Mui passed away in December due to complications.

(Above information get from internet)

The clip below is from her final concert in HK. She knew she couldn't make it for long, so she decided to held the final concert, as a thank you to all her fans and also a full stop for her life. She was born for stage and she wanna die on the stage too. It was sad, you can see she was losing her voice already, but she was still tough to make it to the end. She passed away not long later after the concert. If not mistaken, that was her last song on the stage.

Always love her stage performance. The show below was her with her best friend, the Late Leslie Cheung. He killed himself on 1st April 2003. Still hard to accept both of them has gone...at the same year. No one could ever replace them.

Her funeral.

Mui, love you always. You will always be remembered.

Selamat Hari Raya

On the 15th Oct, we planned to have our Raya Dinner. This is actually the first time we celebrate for Hari Raya. Since its for Raya, so all the dishes must be in Malay styles.

Wayne was cooking something he is good at, chicken rendang with his own receipt. It was nice and very very big portion. It would be better if its more spicy and have some gravy with it. Anyhow, its still finger licking good.

As for Thim, he was cooking potatoes' leafs with sambal haie bee; even though he was planned to cook KangKong at first. Guess he couldn't find the kangkong at the market. His dish was great, especially the crunchy haie bee, really contributed a lot to the dish. Even though it was way too salty, but still we finished it all. I think probably he is still not fully recover from his illness, so small mistake there.

As for CP, he brought prawn & 'chai ean'. Yeah, 'brought' because as usual, he asked his mum to cook instead. So, not much commend given. Anyway, I know he can't wait to cook us the dishes that he learned it from TV. Just that now is not his turn yet. hehehe. I really can't wait to taste it because from the way his described, it seems yummy.

Wayne's hubby, Lawrence aka Ah Lai, broke his promise and cooked fried fishes instead of Otak-otak that he promised me. Hmmm...I really miss his otak-otak. It is superb. Anyway, the fish is great especially when served with the sweet& sour sauce that he made.

As for the newly joined couple, hong & yit, they were incharged of drink. Don't know what's the name of the drink but it mixtures of beer, 7-Up and Laycee. It tasted good. Too bad they prepared too little. Its very sweet of them to bring us Ice cream Potong too.

As for me, I cooked nasi lemak and fried eggs. Hmm.....it was my failure dishes, so nothing much I wanted to say. whahaha. Pai Ser. Anyhow, I brought some chicken & pork satay for sharing.

(wat ?? thought it was Malay style and it supposed to be halal, why pork?) Don't ask me. I just know it tasted great !! Yummy Yummy. ;p

Hmmm...did I miss out anyone ? Oh yeah, Kenny the cutie. So happen he called the night before and said that he is back from Singapore for a week, so just invited him over to join us. After all, he know all of us for years except the new couple. He really put on.......perfume. whaha. Still, he is cute & adorable as the first day I know him, which was 10years ago.

After the meal, they were watching Charlotte's Web. It was a nice movie. I liked it a lot. It is funny and touching. Anyhow, I didn't join them as I just watched it in the morning. So, I just chit chatting with Ken in my room.

Time flies, my 5 days holidays is coming to the end. Tomorrow have to start working. Hmmm.... maybe its good too, or else I would be too lazy to move my big fat ass. whahaha.

p/s : CP did tell some jokes, something with mouse & family with the pad lock. whaha. If you would like to know more, please contact to him personally. ;p

Happy Birthday, Wayne

Three days later will be Wayne's birthday. However, he decided to celebrate it a few days earlier because we all can celebrate late on the weekend, but mainly, he can spend the precious moment with his Siamese hubby on the actual day.

Anyway, yesterday morning, me, Thim and CP went to Gurney Plaza to shop for his gifts. Then, we went to CosPlus to get him something else and then, we went to One-stop to get him another something else too....and then, we also went to Jenny to get him a Mango Chocolate birthday cake.

(ESPRIT)
Oh yeah, I got myself a new watch too. whahaha. I really like it. Been searching for so long and finally found something I really like. So, just grabbed it ! :-) Its not expensive anyway, am not the kind of person who would simply spend money you know. But, sometimes I do mistake too. whahaha

Back to the topic, by 8pm, we all gathered at the Chili's at Gurney Plaza. This was the first time I was there. The place is kinda nice. Even it was full of people, as usual, but you will still feel very comfortable with the place. Its not noisy too.

After we have made our orders, and about half and hour of waiting, we decided to ask Wayne to open the presents. Well, he seemed happy with the presents. Just hope that he actually like it and find it useful; especially the webcam , wink wink ;-) Like what he said, hope he will be much prettier than what he is now by end of the year by using the facial products that we bought him. kekeke.

About 15min later, the foods finally served. The Citrus Fire Chicken and Prawn that I ordered was yummy. The prawn, nice ! The chicken, nice ! The vege, nice ! The fried rice, nice !! The Ice lemon tea, nice and bottomless !!! This was the first time I actually finished all the things in my plate at Western restaurant. This is because most the western restaurant serves butter fried rice and vege, which I cannot take. It was worth for the wait. 4 stars ****

After the dinner, suddenly we heard the staffs singing "Happy Birthday" and slowly they walked toward our table with the cake we brought. What a surprised !! Then we sang along. It was a very thoughtful service as it would seems awkward if just us singing in the public.

During our cake, out of no where, someone suddenly mentioned about the games we used to play during our childhood. Then, each of us trying to recall and named a few....such as bak ku li, seven stones, la la li tak tam pong, kite, T-square box jump with one leg, sap por, AEIOU, flighting fish, rubber seed, 4 wheels skate, join hand cards and rope jumping(mai mai, mai de kao, su su, su le mi).... & many many more. It really freshen up our memories. It is sad that children nowadays doesn't seem to know these games anymore. All they know is computer games. Well, generation gap. We are old. Damn it !!

Well, after dinner at around 10.30pm, we just called it the night due to it was too full for any of us going for the next round, either coffee or liquor. Anyway, it was a nice and fun dinner. It has been quite sometimes I have not laugh so hard.

p/s : CP said he liked to play the card dolls which you can change the dolls' clothes when he was a kid. Hmmm... not sure whether he is still playing now......

p/s 2: The cake was yummy. Jenny never failed us. Well done, Jen !! Again, 4 stars ****

p/s 3: There was a nanah joke made by me, but it was too disgusting & gross to put it on blog. So, I will just give it a miss. whahaha.

p/s 4: He called during the dinner.

Stupid Blog !!!

Totally waste of times !! I've spend more than 3 hours to arrange the photos for the Fayenatic column. It looked good when preview it. Everything was very organized. When I finally happy with my work, and published it, it turned out to be the crab below. WHAT THE FXXK !!! @#*&$*&$)$&)&$_&$*^&*^$&%!&%)&(@)#($+&@%&@*(&*_$@#
